Variables of Photography

The 3 variables of photography are: Camera Angle, Lighting, and Proximity.

#1 Camera Angle
Camera angle is very important when taking picture. Camera angle is the angle at which the camera is pointed at the subject. A picture can be taken in many different angles such as: Eye level, above subject, below subject and not squared or slanted. When the camera is at eye level, it's normal because we see things at eye level. When the camera is above subject it makes us feel like we are looking down at the subject. Makes the viewer feel bigger and the subject smaller than it is. When taking a picture below subject, makes the viewer feel smaller, and the subject larger. If the camera is not squared, it makes the picture look uneven, and not stable.

#2 Lighting
Lighting is very important when taking a picture. If it's too dark, you won't be able to see the subject. If its too bright, then it will look too overwhelming. There are different types of lighting in photography such as: Sufficient, Insufficient, lit from above, lit from below, and lit from the side. If the photo is too dark, it may look too scary. If the photos light, it makes you feel at ease, and more calmer. But it really depends on what you want the viewer to think about the picture. Like if the picture was meant to be dark and scary, or if the picture was meant to be very bright.

#3Proximity
Proximity in photography is how far, or how close you want the picture to be shown as. Like the distance in the picture. The distance in the picture could be:  far from the subject, medium-long, medium (face and torso), a close up, and an extreme close up.

Beyonce VS Beyonce (Vizio Commercial)

This commercial is showing the new Vizio flat screen TV with Internet icons, hd quality.
Techniques of persuasian used in this commercial are: Celebrity and Sexy.
I think the most dominant technique was Sexy and Celebrity. I think this because throughout the whole commercial Beyonce (celebrity) was there, she was wearing a short dress, which is revealing. (sexy) I think they used all of these techniques because when a celebrity is in a commercial, it ususally makes the viewer want to buy it. Since this celebrity is female which is wearing revealing clothing, it attracts male viewers more.
I think this ad is effective in persuasing the viewer to think a certain way about the brand.

Techniques of Persuasion

In this blog post, I will be discussing the 10 different techniques of persuasion that can be used in advertisements. (commercials, posters)
Here are the 10 techniques:

Humor: Crazy or funny images that make the viewer laugh
Macho: Strong, tough, powerful-usually males. May carry weapons or be pictured in dangerous situations. Cowboys.
Friends: Groups of people enjoying each other and doing things together. Buddies, pals and friendship.
Fun: Everyone is happy-smiling and laughing. Often images of people doing fun things and having a good time.
Nature: Outdoor setting- mountain, ocean, desert, snow flowers etc. May or may not have people included.
Sexy: Emphasis on physical attributes of models, usually female; may wear revealing clothing and be shown flirting through attitude or body language.
Cartoon: People or animals portrayed as drawings or animation. Often humorous.
Celebrity: Someone most people recognize-athlete, musician, politician, or movie star.
Wealth: Expensive and elegant places and things. Big houses, new cars, jewelry, designer clothing.

In class we discussed about persuasion. Persuasion convinces you to do things. They persuade the viewers to buy their product(s). In the advertisement, they talk about the good things about it, more than the bad things about the product.

BOTOX .

Mary, an typical  mom of 3 kids is the perfect example of a smart consumer that took the health risks and thousands of dollars of using Botox to erase her wrinkles and "reverse the clock" on life. (The second picture was taken exactly 14 days after the first)

Like most in Canada, Mary makes an average salary and doesn’t have the extra cash to try every celebrity endorsed Anti-Aging miracle cream out there. At one time she did consider taking out loans for injecting Botox and even contemplated getting a facelift, but became frightened after researching Botox and face lift malpractice stories. .

Mary discovered 2 beauty product trials from trusted skin care companies Nue Science Wrinkle Reducer & Pure Collagen Anti-Aging Serum with Cell Revival technology to unlock the secrets of anti-aging.
This solution has not only removed her wrinkles, but also tightened her neck and face instantly. It changed her life.

Mary’s Story & 14 Day Cell Revival Results:
Mary Before And After Using Both Products
"I have to admit I do tend to jump on the bandwagon and I have tried countless anti-aging wrinkle creams such as Oil of Olay, Neutrogena, and many others to help me look young again. Unfortunately, the results were never as good as I wanted them to be. Until, one day after watching a documentary on Cell Revival technology and doing some careful research, I found Nue Science and Pure Collagen Anti-Aging Serum. I was very skeptical, but during my research I came across countless success stories and clinical studies which led me to giving them a fair try." - Mary

The purpose of a blog ...

The purpose of a blog is to inform, to persuade, and to entertain.

To inform: you are writing to inform, You are presenting information that what the reader is interested in.

I chose the blog :   http://www.bloglockers.com/ because it gives updates on sports/teams. It tells you the scores, how the game was, and even sometimes a little about the players themselves. People who enjoy to watch sports will love this blog. If you missed a game or something, you can always go on this blog to see what you missed out on. It informs people on everything sports.

Another blog I chose was :  http://lifehacker.com/ because this blog informs people on important situations like that the Band of America will be charging people $5 per month for u your debit cards. It's nice to look at this blog every once in a while if you want to see whats going on. But, you can always look in the newspaper too. :P

To persuade: when writing to persuade you convince the reader Of a fact or a point of view.

I chose the blog : http://gizmodo.com/ because the writer of this blog convinces the reader to buy their electronic products. This blog gives out useful information and pictures and it is sort like an advertisement. I like this blog because it is very organized and it even has some video's posted on it.

Another blog I chose is : http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/ because they were trying to make a difference by sharing their opinions with each other. While reading this blog, people might feel they should do something about it. Though, in my opinion, i thought this blog was boring to read. :P

To entertain: Writing that is designed to entertain that creates an emotion to the reader.

I chose the blog, "Kim Jong-il I like looking at things" because instead of using a lot of information, they used pictures which entertains the reader more. I think it was interesting to look at. It only shows Kim Jong-il looking at some random objects, which amuses the reader. Most people these days dislike reading information and like looking at pictures more. Therefore, is would be a great blog for you if to look at if you enjoy blogs like this. Here is the link :  http://kimjongillookingatthings.tumblr.com/

Here is the other blog I chose : http://1000awesomethings.com/
I chose this blog because it still shows a lot pictures, but still gives out a lot information, but not boring to read. This blog shows pictures of what they think is awesome and they put a caption on why they think it is awesome. This blog is very organized and easy to read. This blog does it's job, it should entertain the reader while looking at the photo's and reading the information. Therefore , this would a great blog for you to look at if you want to know what the 1000 awesome things in the world are. :)

me! :)

My name is Caitlin ... and this is my first post! :)
My hobbies are listening to music, dancing (even though I'm not that good at it) , drawing , watching TV, and going on my laptop, though I'm not allowed to be on it 24/7 obviously. I took dance lessons for a week and quit because I thought it was boring. Oh well!  My favorite type of music is pop. I love to listen to Korean pop music! :) Though, I cannot understand what they are singing, I listen to it a lot. But I do listen to other types of music as well. I like to draw on my spare time when I get bored. My family members say I'm good at drawing, but I don't even think I'm close to good. :P When I'm on my laptop, I'm either online shopping , playing the game, "Plants VS. Zombies" , or blog on "Tumblr" . :)You can follow me on Tumblr if you like. Here is the link to my Tumblr: http://caaitlinjaane.tumblr.com . Shows I like to watch are usually on "Family" Channel, (34) , or either on the foods channel because for some odd reason, I like to watch people cook. I also like to watch reality TV because it could be really funny sometimes and interesting. I'm not really a fan of the shows, : GLEE, Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries, Jersey Shore etc..  I just don't like them for some reason. But mostly all my friends watch stuff like that.
My other interests are blogging on my "Tumblr" account that I use almost everyday. I think it's very fun. :D I like photography a lot actually, but I wouldn't say I'm a professional.  I like to take pictures of random objects and then edit them on my laptop. I take the pictures on my phone because I don't have my own camera.
My favorite color is blue because it's just a really calming color, but it can also be a very loud color too.
My friends say that I'm weird, but I'm proud to be! They also say I'm funny..but I don't even know why they would think that, I don't even try to. I think I'm bubbly, which means I can be perky, friendly...sometimes over the top, but not mean. Generally, the term "bubble" is well used by my friends and I, to describe girls that are just.."bubbly". I guess bubbly really means fun, upbeat, spirited, and a smiling perky type person. That's how I describe "bubbly'. I have met people who are overly bubbly, but for the most part, they are pretty cheerful, good spirited people, which is not a bad thing.

Well I think that's all I'm going to say about me...so bye! :)
